This is yet another colorful palm and originates from New Guinea. It was sold as Nengella sp. Highland to many growers in the states in the past, but with the recent name change to Hydriastele, it has become obvious which specie this is. As a juvenile, it throws out pinkish-red leaves, but right around the 5 Gallon stage, it becomes a vibrant red color similar to a flame thrower. This is a clumping understory palm that can reach up to 12', will want filtered light to partial sun and can tolerate down to 32 Degrees F. For more information and pictures, try this link: .
You'd be bidding on what you see in the photo. One overgrown 1 Gallon palm that's appoximately 16" out of the soil.
